As a result of an Open Call with over 70 applicants, 5 artists were chosen to participate in the exhibition, each with a site-specific work. The works are displayed at Långholmen's old prison courtyard, in the old exercise yard shaped like a Panopticon. A Panopticon is an architectural principle where the prison guard from a point in a semicircle can monitor all inmates.
In the book "Crime and Punishment" by Focault, we read in the chapter "Panoptism" about the emergence of the surveillance society due to the Plague. For natural reasons, we think about the forced isolation that has affected the world's population over the past year. Ethical issues around surveillance, punishment and imprisonment came to be the theme of our exhibition. We have done a collective research in the subject where we have invited external artists, curators, art critics and researchers.
The exhibition is outdoors and both vernissage and finnisage will be held outdoors, we will follow to the public health authority's restrictions. Alcohol and alcohol-free options are for sale on site, it is not allowed to bring alcohol.
